2010–2021 GX460 · Last verified
How do I add Apple CarPlay or Android Auto to my GX460?
The short version
- You can do it yourself
- Hamilton posts step-by-step install videos. It's a driveway job, not a shop job.
- Two routes
- Keep the factory screen and add CarPlay to it, or swap in a new screen.
- Buy for your year
- Kits differ for 2010–2013 and 2014–2021.
Your options
$$$ budget · $$$ mid · $$$ premium
Option 1
$$$Hamilton Upgrade Kit
Adds CarPlay and Android Auto to the factory screen. The dash still looks stock.
Good
- You can switch back to the Lexus system
- Step-by-step install videos from Hamilton
Watch for
- The screen stays the same size
Option 2
$$$Hamilton Premium Conversion Kit
Replaces the factory screen with a new one.
Good
- CarPlay and Android Auto built in
- Same install videos
Watch for
- Costs the most of the three
Option 3
$$$BoxNav
The budget route, sold on Amazon. VikNav sells the same kind of unit under another name.
Field noteI've used BoxNav, and it works a-ok.
Good
- Much cheaper than Hamilton
Watch for
- Thinner instructions and support than Hamilton
